GIGS I DIDN'T GET (AND WHY)

Santana – I did 3 studio tracks for the “Supernatural” CD.

All were scrapped before the release.

Wilson Pickett – I learned the set and was “in the wings”

    but never got the call.

Keith Richards – I never got my schedule synchronized with

    producer.

Ronnie Spector – She called. But I was booked.

Rod Stewart – The contractor couldn’t find my number in

     time.

CHIC – They only let me conduct for special guest, Sam

    Moore, not play bass.

Stanley Clarke – I auditioned but didn’t make it.

Larry Coryell – He said he would call but never did.

Al DiMeola – I auditioned but didn’t make it.

Ernie K. Doe – He swore during a TV show we were guests         on that I had played with him.  I never had.

Joan Jett & the Blackhearts – They wouldn’t audition me

     because I was too tall.

Little Anthony & the Imperials – They called me. But I was

booked. Ten years later I finally got the gig!

Little Eva – I was booked with her. But another gig

    preempted it.

Little Peggy March – I was booked with her. But another         gig preempted it.

Darlene Love – She called. But I was out of town. Two years

later I finally got to play with her.

The Blues Brothers – Was booked to play with them at a

cannabis rally. But it got rained out.

New York Dolls – They wouldn’t audition me because of

    schedule conflicts.

Hubert Sumlin – I was booked on a record date with him that

    got canceled last minute.

Tower of Power – They were given my number when Rocco was

    sick, but never called.

Pat Travers – He called. But I was booked. I ended up jamming

    with him years later.

Johnny Winter – He kept threatening to call, but never did.

Steven Wright – I went to the recording session but couldn’t play

    the part well enough. Fired!

Black 47 – I auditioned but didn’t make it.
